Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at strengthening women’s empowerment and financial independence, the Odisha government has announced a comprehensive restructuring of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida unveiled the initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing livelihood opportunities and fostering socio-economic growth.
Key Highlights of the Restructuring Plan
- Streamlined Governance & Leadership: The restructuring will focus on improving governance within SHGs, ensuring transparency and efficiency in operations. Leadership training programs will be introduced to equip women with managerial and entrepreneurial skills.
- Enhanced Financial Support & Market Linkages: The state government will facilitate better access to credit and banking services for SHGs. Partnerships with e-commerce platforms and local markets will be strengthened to help SHGs sell their products more effectively.
- Skill Development & Capacity Building: Specialized training in handicrafts, agriculture, food processing, and other income-generating activities will be provided. Collaboration with industrial and agricultural experts to modernize SHG operations.
- Technology Integration: Digital literacy programs will be introduced to help SHG members leverage online tools for business growth. Mobile apps and online portals will be developed to streamline SHG transactions and market access.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida stated, “The restructuring of Women Self-Help Groups is a transformative step towards ensuring sustainable livelihoods for women in rural and urban Odisha.
