Daspalla: (Report - Subash Chandra Barik) The famous Shakti Peeth of the western region, Maa Maninaga Thakurani's annual festival and Vijaya Ekadashi, both according to Vedic and tribal traditions, were celebrated with great pomp over three days on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of the dark fortnight of Phalguna (English dates 22nd, 23rd, and 24th) at the main Shakti Peeth in Buguda village and the Buguda Colony Shakti Peeth.
On the 9th day, after the Kalash Yatra during the Brahma Muhurta, Vedic rituals like Mahashakti Homa and continuous Nama Sankirtan were performed by the Srotriya Brahmins. On the second day of the festival, thousands of tribal devotees, adorned with traditional weapons, gathered at the Mahanadi Wildlife Sanctuary, where the benevolent goddess Ma Maninaga Thakurani resides. After the Navashakti Homa at the Adi Peeth hill, Maninagar, a grand procession brought the deity to the Shakti Peeth at Buguda Colony, where worship was conducted according to tribal traditions. On the third day, Vijaya Ekadashi was observed as per rituals. Every year, over 50,000 devotees from the western region of Dashpalla participate in this festival to seek the blessings of the Mother Goddess. Each night, the stage entertainment programs captivate the audience, while prominent figures like Nityananda Pradhan, Niranjan Raul, Promod Jani, Gorekh Kahar, Muna Nayak, Banambar Naik, and others oversaw the festival's management.
