National Education Policy 2020: Odisha's Odagaon Hosts Block-Level Discussion

Odagaon: (Report- Sanatan Mahakud):  Under the direction of Block Primary Teachers' Association President Naresh Panigrahi, a major block-level debate on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was held at the Odagaon Government Welfare Hall. Prominent educators, legislators, and officials convened at the event to discuss the impact and implementation of NEP 2020 in government schools. 

Important Figures And The Inauguration 

The meeting was opened by Honourable MLA Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, who emphasised the policy's revolutionary potential to change education in schools. Several notable guests, including District Council Chairperson Er. Debashish Pattnaik, District Education Officer Rajashree Pattnaik, Block Education Officer Geetanjali Sahu, Additional Block Education Officer Kamalini Behera, and State Teachers’ Association General Secretary Jyotiranjan Dash, graced the occasion. 

Discussions On NEP 2020 

Education expert Lalit Mohan Mishra presented a detailed project on the key objectives and framework of NEP 2020, highlighting its emphasis on: 

1. Holistic and multidisciplinary education 
2. Skill-based learning approaches 
3. Integration of technology in classrooms 
4. Flexible curriculum focusing on critical thinking 

Former Additional Block Education Officer Rabindra Kumar Nayak and 19 retired teachers shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities of NEP implementation. 

Recognising Teachers' Contributions 

All retiring teachers received commendation certificates from the Block Teachers' Association in appreciation of their dedication to the teaching profession. 
Dr. Arun Kumar Sahu, an MLA, acknowledged the critical role that educators play in shaping children's minds. He emphasised how NEP 2020 will be extremely beneficial to students in government schools and urged teachers to employ innovative teaching techniques. 

Conclusion and Vote of Thanks 

The editorial report was presented by Sridhar Parida, the district CRCC president, and the vote of gratitude was given by teacher Dillip Kumar Hota. Teachers Yashobanta Pattnaik, Rajesh Kumar Sharangi, Ranjan Kumar Dash, Sachidananda Dash, Paramananda Swain, and Mohan Sahu successfully coordinated the event. 
The conversation cleared the path for the successful grassroots implementation of NEP 2020 and signalled a significant turning point in Odisha's educational system.
