Veteran BJP Leader Lal Krishna Advani Admitted to ICU: Health Update from Apollo Hospital

Present State of Health

Advani's declining health over the previous two weeks prompted his hospital admission earlier this week. The medical team keeping an eye on Advani's condition is headed by senior neurologist Dr. Vineet Suri. He is receiving medical management and diagnostic examinations, the hospital stated, although it has not revealed the precise cause of his ICU admittance.
A source close to the family stated that Advani was brought to the hospital two days ago. Notably, this is not the first time he has been hospitalized this year; in August, he was also admitted to Apollo Hospital under Dr. Suri’s care. He was released after receiving treatment and recuperating.

A Prominent Political Leader

Advani just celebrated his 97th birthday. He was born in Karachi, which is now in Pakistan, on November 8, 1927. He began his decades-long political career in 1942 as a volunteer for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). One of the most admired leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Advani was instrumental in its formation.

Important Political Turning Points

BJP President: Advani held the position for the longest period of time in the history of the party, serving as its national president three times (1986–1990, 1993–1998 and 2004–2005).
He served in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's administration from 1999 to 2004 in the important roles of Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Prime Ministerial contender: Advani was predicted to be the BJP's prime ministerial contender in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Although the party faced defeat, his influence on Indian politics remained unwavering.
Bharat Ratna Honoree: On March 30, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, upon Advani in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to the nation.

Legacy and Contributions

Advani is credited with transforming BJP into a formidable political force. An important turning point in Indian politics was his Rath Yatra in 1990, which was intended to support the construction of Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. The BJP expanded rapidly under his direction and finally formed a central government.

Responses from the Public and Best Wishes

Leaders from all political parties wished Advani a fast recovery as soon as word leaked out about his hospitalisation. According to reports, prominent BJP officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have communicated with his family and medical staff to keep them informed about his status.
Millions of people are still motivated by Advani's legacy, and his political contributions to India are well known. His incredible journey continues to serve as a monument to his tenacity and dedication to public service, even while the country awaits more health reports.
As more information becomes available, we will keep you informed about his health.
