President Droupadi Murmu’s Emotional Homecoming to Uparbeda Village

Rairangpur: President Droupadi Murmu made a passionate homecoming to her hometown of Uparbeda in the Mayurbhanj district on Friday. Since taking the esteemed position of President of India on July 25, 2022, this was her first trip to her ancestral home. For the nation's first tribal president, who was born into a Santali family in this quiet town, the trip was an emotional stroll down memory lane.

The locals enthusiastically and warmly welcomed President Murmu when she arrived. The small community, which has watched her rise to the nation’s highest Constitutional post, welcomed her with open arms. The President’s ancestral home and the entire village were decorated to celebrate the occasion. 

A Touching Visit to Her Alma Mater

President Murmu’s first stop was Uparbeda Government Upper Primary School, her alma mater. She has a particular place in her heart for the school since she remembers learning there as a youngster in its modest classrooms with mud walls. Speaking to the pupils, she said, 
"Even though I am sixty-six, I still feel like a kid when I go to my school and community. I hold these memories close to my heart. 
She talked about the commitment of her professors and how their direction influenced her early years. I can clearly recall my teacher, Madan Mohan Sir, taking me into his household when I was studying for the Class-VII scholarship test. I stayed with his children while preparing. The love and support I received from this village and my school are nothing short of heavenly,” she said, visibly emotional.

In a touching gesture, President Murmu felicitated three of her former teachers during a special function. The President gave recognition to her headmaster, Bisheswar Mohanta; her class teacher, Basudev Behere; and her teachers in Classes IV and V, Basanta Kumar Giri, for their significant contributions to her life. This action demonstrated her sincere appreciation for the teachers who were instrumental in forming her path. 

Motivating the Upcoming Generation 

President Murmu's engagement with her alma mater's pupils was touching and inspirational. She shared happiness among the young pupils by giving almost 200 of them school bags full of chocolates and tiffin boxes. 
"Study sincerely and always respect the advice of your teachers, parents, and elders," she advised, inspiring them to pursue success. These values will guide you in life.” 

A Village That Feels Like Family 

For President Murmu, Uparbeda is more than a village; it is an extension of her family. “The villagers and teachers have never treated me as an outsider. She said, "They have always loved and cared for each other without conditions. Her emotional ties to her roots were clear throughout her encounters, and her visit brought back happy memories of her early years. 

A Momentous Occasion for Uparbeda 

The modest community of Uparbeda had a historic moment when President Murmu visited, bringing it into the national limelight. Millions of people across have found inspiration in her journey from a little tribal community to Rashtrapati Bhavan. This homecoming demonstrated the President's close links to her background while also celebrating her accomplishments. 
The faces of the villagers lit up with pride and happiness as she departed Uparbeda, knowing that their beloved "Droupadi" is still closely linked to her modest origins. Future generations will look back on her visit as a source of inspiration and pride.
