Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has announced to build medical colleges in each of the state's 30 districts. He is also including a major expansion of the healthcare infrastructure at Bhadrak. Addressing the State Legislative Assembly on Monday, the minister stated an ambitious recruitment drive aimed at filling 5,000 doctor posts and 3,000 paramedical staff positions.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved changes that the state administration has already started to implement in order to expedite the medical recruiting procedure. “These amendments will expedite the recruitment of doctors and paramedics to address the acute shortage in our healthcare system,” Mahaling added.
The goal of the initiative is to lessen the difficulties district hospitals and community health centres (CHCs) experience. Healthcare delivery in disadvantaged areas is being negatively impacted by the fact that 375 CHCs in Odisha are now functioning without physicians.
It is anticipated that the hiring of 8,000 medical professionals will provide the state's healthcare system a much-needed boost, improving patient care and lightening the strain of current medical personnel.
The effective execution of these initiatives might serve as a template for other states to follow as Odisha takes decisive action to close the healthcare infrastructure gap.
