Bargarh: At a special ceremony at Sohela, Bargarh, on Sunday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially launched the distribution of an extra input assistance of Rs 800 per quintal of paddy over the current Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,300.

Sohela: The Beginning of a New Age
The selection of Sohela as the launch location was meaningful, CM Majhi underlined. Recognized as the rice hub of Odisha, Bargarh district leads the state in paddy production. The Chief Minister remarked, “The farmers of Baragada district has a main role in Odisha’s food security and that's why, we begin this initiative here.”Majhi also highlighted the dual significance of starting this program in Sohela:
"This additional subsidy of Rs 800 per quintal is a fitting response to past deceptions," Majhi said, referring to unmet promises made by the previous administration in 2016. In contrast to others, our administration is steadfast in keeping its commitments.
Government’s Bold Commitment to Farmers
Reiterating the state’s unwavering commitment to farmers, Majhi shared that within hours of taking his oath, his first Cabinet meeting approved the Rs 800 additional input assistance. This initiative was also a key promise in the BJP’s election manifesto, which aimed at procuring paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal, a promise fulfilled with this historic step.“Farmers are the backbone of our nation. Ensuring their prosperity is a prerequisite for the country’s progress. Our government’s top priority is to guarantee a fair price for their hard-earned produce,” Majhi affirmed.
Strong Progress in Paddy Procurement
The Kharif season's paddy procurement began on November 20, and as of now, over 21,500 farmers have sold their produce to the government. It is anticipated that the extra aid will boost the agricultural industry and provide farmers with even more incentives.Leaders Support the Initiative
