Important Topics for Security and Policing

In his speech on the first day, Prime Minister Modi emphasised important topics such drug control, coastal security, left-wing extremism (LWE), and counterterrorism. With conversations aimed at coming up with workable solutions, special attention was paid to changing issues such as economic security and cybercrime. "The deliberations today were productive and insightful, focussing on strengthening our internal security framework," Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.

Examining New Crime Laws and Police Procedures

A study of the application of recently enacted criminal legislation and their effects on the effectiveness of law enforcement is part of the conference. It is anticipated that senior police officers will exchange creative methods and best practices for combating crime and maintaining public safety.

Engaging in Interactive and Holistic Activities

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) emphasised in a statement that this year's conference will be interactive. Themed eating, yoga classes, and breakout talks are among the activities designed to promote teamwork. "This format allows for an open exchange of ideas on policing challenges and national security," the PMO added.
Roadmap for Emerging Challenges
Over the next two days, discussions will revolve around mitigating LWE, enhancing coastal security, and combating the increasing threat of narcotics. Priorities will also be given to combating cybercrime and guaranteeing economic security. The goal of the conference is to develop a plan for dealing with these issues in a coordinated, multi-stakeholder manner.

Maintaining the Nationwide Engagement Tradition

Because policing difficulties vary by location, PM Modi has pushed for the DGP/IGP Conference to be held in several states since 2014. Past locations include Jaipur, Hyderabad, Pune, and Guwahati. The addition of Bhubaneswar to this esteemed list highlights the significance of Odisha in the conversation about national security.
Top police officials from states and union territories, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are among the distinguished attendees at the conference. Chiefs of Central Police Organisations and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs are also actively participating in the sessions.
Prime Minister’s Vision for Modern Policing
The PMO reiterated PM Modi’s commitment to modernizing India’s policing system. "This conference is not just about addressing challenges but also about envisioning the future of policing in a rapidly evolving world," the statement noted.

In conclusion

The 59th DGP/IGP Conference is anticipated to be extremely important in formulating India's security policy as the nation negotiates complicated security dynamics. The government's proactive approach to creating a safe and resilient India is highlighted by the emphasis on communication, innovation, and execution.
