Over 6,700 Modern Schools to Be Established Across Odisha

Under the scheme, each panchayat will see the construction of a state-of-the-art primary school, totaling approximately 6,794 new schools. Inspired by the exemplary learning environment at the historic Satyabadi Banavidyalaya, these model schools will foster an ideal educational environment for students, focusing on language skills and foundational mathematics.
The Chief Minister emphasized, "We are committed to fostering a supportive and well-rounded educational atmosphere, enabling students to establish solid academic foundations for their future studies."

Emphasis on Quality Education and Holistic Development

A core feature of these model schools will be their emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy, enabling students to better transition to advanced grades. Additionally, the government will ensure the schools have advanced infrastructure, including separate toilets for boys and girls, green spaces, digital libraries, language labs, computer facilities, dining halls, and sports amenities. Each classroom will be equipped with smart boards to encourage interactive learning.

Prioritizing Extracurricular and Cultural Growth

The scheme aims to support students' intellectual, physical, and social development. Beyond academics, these model schools will prioritize physical fitness, sports, cultural, and social education, helping young learners develop well-rounded personalities.

Preserving and Revitalizing Heritage Schools

Apart from the model schools, discussions at the meeting addressed the revival and preservation of heritage schools that are over 100 years old or date back to pre-independence times. As part of the heritage school program, the state government will revitalize 45 iconic schools, celebrating their historical legacy and the contributions of notable alumni and teachers associated with these institutions.

Improving Existing Facilities and Midday Meal Schemes

The meeting also touched on enhancing the midday meal scheme and upgrading facilities at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas. The government plans to make nutritious meals more accessible, ensuring students have a balanced diet essential for both physical and cognitive development.
