Balasore: (Report: Sanatan Mahakud): The Healthy Life Yoga College and Institute, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Nature Care and Yogic Science, successfully concluded the 7th National Conference on Yoga and Naturopathy. Held over three days from November 9 to 11, this event celebrated traditional wellness practices with a diverse program designed to highlight the importance of yoga and naturopathy in modern life.
The event began with a traditional homayagya, a Vedic ritual aimed at promoting positivity and well-being, setting a spiritual tone for the conference. Distinguished guests and speakers included renowned yoga instructor Sri Sanatan Mahakud from Kolkata, naturopathy researcher Dr. Sanjay Thakur from Bihar, and yoga and Ayurvedic expert Bhagwan Bhuyan, who had recently returned from South Korea. The lineup also featured Abhishek Das, a lecturer from INCYS, along with natural health researcher Vijaya Kumar Prusti from Bhubaneswar. Each speaker brought unique insights and shared valuable research on holistic wellness.
The conference saw an impressive gathering of prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG of Balasore, and Mr. Sudhakar Naik, ADM of Balasore. Also in attendance were academic leaders such as Prof. Vaskar Behera, PG Council Chairman and Principal, and literary figures like Mr. Kalipada Panda, a former member of the Sahitya Academy. Additionally, Mr. Srustidhar Parida, editor of Dwani Pratidwani, and Mrs. Sirandrisahu, editor of Sagarika, attended as honored guests, with both receiving special recognition as a distinguished literary couple.
One of the highlights of the event was the release of the book Yoga for Modern Elements, authored by Professor Abhishek Das. The book explores how yoga can address various challenges of contemporary life, further emphasizing the relevance of ancient wellness practices in today’s fast-paced world.
To inspire community involvement, a yoga awareness walk and blood donation camp were organized in Balasore. Students and participants marched to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and naturopathy. Additionally, cultural programs featuring performances from students of Utkal University of Culture , Maharaja Sriramchandra Bhanj Deo University, and Fakirmohan University added vibrancy to the event.
An exciting Yoga Asana competition also took place, drawing over 200 students who displayed their skills and dedication to this ancient practice. Mr. Chit Ranjan Sahu, head of Health Yoga College and NSS Program Officer of INCYS, addressed the participants, elaborating on the physical and mental health benefits that yoga and naturopathy offer.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by teacher Anita Mishra, who expressed gratitude to all attendees, participants, and organizers. Certificates were presented to all delegates as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the conference.
