West Bengal and North East Dominate CISCE National Karate Championship with 34 Medals!

Kolkata: (Reported by Sanatan Mahakuda): The CISCE National Karate Championship 2024, held from 12th to 14th September at Blue Bell Public School, Jhansi, witnessed fierce competition from across 12 regions, including the West Bengal and North East Region. The championship, which featured boys and girls under the age categories of U14, U17, and U19, brought together young karate athletes for a spirited display of skill, strength, and determination.

Impressive Performance by Boys’ Team 

The boys’ team from West Bengal and North East made a remarkable impact, securing a total of 24 medals, including 6 gold, 4 silver, and 14 bronze. 

In the U14 category, Siddharth Roy took home the gold in the 55-60 kg weight division, showcasing his excellent technique and resilience. Priyankar Ambedkar (+60 kg) and Subhrarup Pal (-50 kg) both earned bronze, while Soumyajit Pal (-40 kg) also added a bronze to the tally. 

The U17 category saw Riddhiman Saha securing gold in the 40-45 kg weight class. Arpan Roy Chowdhury added another gold in the +82 kg category. Bronze winners included Paarth Jhawer (54-58 kg), Abir Biswas (58-62 kg), Arjun Mallick (62-66 kg), and Raj Bhattacharjee (78-82 kg). 

In the U19 category, Durgesh Roy (50-54 kg) and Rudrajeet Basak (54-58 kg) both won gold, while Dipankar Das (70-74 kg) and Sohan Banerjee (78-82 kg) secured silver. Other bronze winners in this category were Shinjan Das (-35 kg), Aman Dasgupta (74-78 kg), and Avranil Paul (+82 kg). 

Girls’ Team Displays Dominance 

The girls’ team from the region proved equally formidable, bringing home 10 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals, reflecting their outstanding skills. 

In the U14 category, Aradhya Gupta (-18 kg), Reeva Maurya (18-22 kg), and Shristika Mondal (42-46 kg) each secured gold medals in their respective categories. Ginia Tarafdar (34-38 kg) earned a silver medal for her efforts. 

The U17 category saw Adrija Bhattacharjee (32-36 kg) and Adrija Das (60-64 kg) both claiming gold, while Ishani Gupta (40-44 kg) earned silver. Bronze medals went to Satarupa Debnath (48-52 kg) and Paramita Barik (56-60 kg). 

In the U19 category, Samahita Malakar (52-56 kg), Piuli Maity (60-64 kg), and Tanushka Ghosh (+68 kg) emerged as gold medalists. Pronidhi Ghosh (64-68 kg) earned silver, and bronze medals were awarded to Palak Singh (-32 kg), Dipshita Koley (32-36 kg), and Priyasha Mullick (36-40 kg). 

A Proud Victory for the Region 

With a total of 34 medals – 13 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze – the West Bengal and North East region stood tall in the championship, marking their presence as one of the top-performing teams. The event brought together young karate enthusiasts from across the country, showcasing the strength of the region's talent and commitment to the sport. 

The efforts and dedication of each participant, along with the guidance of their coaches, were evident in their performances, making this a memorable tournament for all involved.
