Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government's flagship program, the Subhadra Yojana, has seen an overwhelming response across the state, with citizens flocking to Mo Seva Kendras, Post Offices, and Jana Seva Kendras for last-minute Aadhaar card corrections and form submissions. The scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance to over one crore beneficiaries, has led to large crowds and even chaotic scenes at some centers.
To address these concerns, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida clarified that there is no deadline for registration under the Subhadra Yojana. This decision was made deliberately to prevent further chaos and ensure that everyone eligible for the scheme has ample time to apply.
Why No Deadline?
Speaking in an exclusive interview with OTV, Parida elaborated on the decision to keep the registration process open-ended. "We expected a significant influx of applicants and believed that imposing a deadline would only intensify the situation. Therefore, we have decided not to fix any deadline. The registration process will continue until the last eligible person submits their application," Parida stated.
She further assured potential beneficiaries that even those who register later in the year, such as in October or November, will still receive their payments. The Subhadra Yojana promises a total of Rs 50,000, which will be distributed in ten installments of Rs 5,000 each. The first installment is expected to be disbursed by March 8.
Application Assistance
Given the scale of the program and the challenges associated with it, the Odisha government has mobilized various resources to assist applicants. Mission Shakti members, Bank Mitras, and Anganwadi workers have been instructed to help beneficiaries fill out the application forms.
Parida emphasized that the government is making every effort to ensure a smooth process. "Our ground-level workers, especially the Anganwadi workers, are playing a crucial role in distributing the forms and guiding people through the process. We also have a helpline that receives 30,000 to 32,000 calls daily, indicating that the outreach is working effectively," she said.
No Beneficiary Left Behind
One of the key objectives of the Subhadra Yojana is to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. The government has set a target of enrolling over one crore beneficiaries, and Parida reiterated that every individual who qualifies will receive the promised financial aid, regardless of when they register.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s assurance aims to ease the anxiety among citizens and reduce the frantic rush at application centers. By keeping the registration process open-ended, the government hopes to make the Subhadra Yojana accessible to all eligible individuals without creating unnecessary stress or chaos.
In conclusion, the Subhadra Yojana is a significant initiative by the Odisha government, designed to provide much-needed financial support to its citizens. With a flexible registration process, robust support from ground-level workers, and a clear commitment from the state leadership, the program is set to make a meaningful impact on the lives of over one crore beneficiaries.
