Over 600 Gifts and Mementos Received by PM Modi Up for E-Auction

A Collection That Celebrates India's Heritage

The e-auction offers a wide array of items, including traditional artworks, religious artifacts, and sports memorabilia from the 2024 Paralympic Games. Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the collection as a reflection of India’s “rich tapestry of culture, spirituality, history, and politics.” He emphasized that these gifts represent the pride of India’s past and its vibrant present.

Items Available for Auction

The auction features some extraordinary pieces of traditional art, such as vibrant paintings, intricate sculptures, and indigenous handicrafts. Various forms of folk and tribal art, like Madhubani and Gond art, are also part of this exquisite collection. Among the standout items are religious artifacts, including models of temples like the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the Shree Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka. Statues of Hindu deities and ceremonial swords add a spiritual dimension to the collection.

In addition to art, there are also angavastras (traditional garments), shawls, headgear, and ceremonial swords, which are often given as symbols of honor and respect. Notable works such as Pichwai paintings and Mata Ni Pachedi art further enhance the cultural significance of the collection.

Sports Memorabilia and a Tribute to Heroes

A special section of the auction is dedicated to sports memorabilia from the 2024 Paralympic Games, highlighting India’s achievements in sports. Moreover, a poignant part of the auction pays tribute to India's freedom fighters and warriors, celebrating the nation’s glorious past.

Aiding the Namami Gange Project

This e-auction marks the sixth edition of Prime Minister Modi's mementos auction, which began in January 2019. So far, the auctions have raised over Rs 50 crore. Just like in previous editions, the funds generated from this auction will support the Namami Gange Project, which aims to protect and restore the Ganga River’s ecosystem.

Minister Shekhawat expressed the government’s commitment to preserving India’s environment through this initiative. The proceeds will contribute to efforts to rejuvenate the Ganga, ensuring its ecological balance and cultural significance are safeguarded for future generations.

How to Participate

Individuals interested in participating in this auction can register and place bids through the official website. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history while contributing to a noble cause.

As the auction continues until October 2, people across the country have the chance to own these remarkable items that reflect India’s diverse and vibrant culture. Each gift tells a unique story, and the funds raised will play a vital role in preserving the nation’s most cherished river and its environment.

In conclusion, this e-auction is not just a platform to purchase valuable mementos but also a way to engage with India’s rich cultural heritage while supporting a vital environmental cause.
