Bhubaneswar: Two talented youths from Odisha have brought glory to the state by winning medals at the 47th World Skills Competition, held in Lyon, France. Amarish Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil demonstrated remarkable skills and made Odisha proud on the global stage. Amarish Kumar Sahu won the bronze medal in the renewable energy sector, while Gedela Akhil bagged a medal for excellence in the field of water technology.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt congratulations to both Amarish and Akhil for their outstanding performance. He expressed "The involvement of Odisha's talented youth in the World Skills Competition has significantly enhanced the state's global reputation. Their success reflects the state's ongoing efforts to develop the skills of our youth and bring them to the world stage." He also congratulated the institutions that provided training to these young achievers, acknowledging their role in this success.
The Chief Minister further highlighted the contributions of organizations like the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) and CV Raman Global University, which are committed to making Odisha a leader in skill development. He added that this victory will inspire countless aspiring youths to excel on a global platform.
Amarish Kumar Sahu, a native of Debagarh, is currently pursuing a diploma in Mechatronics at CTTC, Bhubaneswar. Meanwhile, Gedela Akhil is studying Civil Engineering at CV Raman Global University. The World Skills Competition is one of the largest talent discovery programs in the world, with participants from over 80 countries showcasing their abilities in various fields such as construction, technology, and services.

Among the 60 participants representing India in this year’s competition, 15 were from Odisha, further highlighting the state's growing prominence in the field of skill development. The event provided a unique opportunity for participants to exhibit their talents in a range of categories and compete at an international level.
This achievement by Amarish and Akhil is expected to motivate many young people in Odisha to pursue excellence in their respective fields and aspire to make a mark on the global stage.
