A Holistic Health Fair to Serve All

The health fair offered a range of services, addressing both general and specialized medical needs. Key highlights included:

  • Health Camps: Free consultation and treatment were offered by specialists from various medical disciplines. Departments such as neurology, cardiology, urology, nephrology, psychiatry, pediatrics, orthopedics, and general surgery provided their expertise at the camp.
  • Specialized Eye Check-Up Camps: Dedicated to improving vision care, these camps catered to people with both common and complex eye conditions, providing treatment, prescriptions, and eyewear as needed.

The Chief Minister commended the participating medical teams from Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital, Dharanidhar Naik Medical College, and SCB Medical College for their commitment to public welfare.

An Inclusive Approach to Healthcare

In a bid to make the health fair as inclusive as possible, special focus was placed on the distribution of disability aids. Collaborating with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, the fair distributed an impressive range of aids to 923 beneficiaries. These included:

  • Wheelchairs and tricycles to facilitate mobility for those with physical disabilities.
  • Braille kits, hearing aids, and walkers for the visually impaired and hearing impaired.
  • Knee belts and knee caps for those with orthopedic issues.

This third camp was not just a distribution event but also a symbol of the state's commitment to ensuring no one is left behind, especially in terms of access to essential medical support.

4,000+ Residents Directly Benefited from the Initiative

In total, over 4,000 residents from Keonjhar and nearby districts benefited from the free medical services and disability aids offered at the health fair. The sheer scale of the event underscored the government’s proactive approach to healthcare, addressing the needs of both urban and rural populations.

Addressing Local Health Concerns: A CM’s Grievance Cell

Taking time to interact with locals, CM Mohan Charan Majhi personally listened to health-related grievances at his dedicated grievance cell. Several concerns regarding healthcare infrastructure, medication availability, and staff shortages were brought to his attention. Majhi assured the residents of immediate action and announced a series of upcoming measures to alleviate their concerns.

A Vision for Future Healthcare Initiatives

In his speech, the Chief Minister expressed his vision for a healthier Odisha, emphasizing the state government's commitment to bringing quality healthcare to every district. He announced plans for the expansion of health camps across all district headquarters, ensuring that people in even the remotest areas have access to specialized medical treatment.

“We are committed to building a healthier Odisha, and these health camps are only the beginning. We will continue working towards accessible, quality healthcare for everyone,” said Majhi, outlining the state's agenda.

The introduction of mobile medical units is expected to transform healthcare delivery in underserved areas. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, these units will travel to remote regions, providing primary healthcare and diagnostics, bridging the gap for communities that have long been deprived of such services.

A Path Forward: Strengthening Public Health

The success of the Keonjhar health fair signals the government's larger strategy to strengthen public health infrastructure in the state. With several districts lacking access to specialized medical care, CM Majhi’s focus on mobile medical units, district-wide health camps, and increased disability aid distributions represents a bold step towards improving healthcare accessibility.

Moreover, the Chief Minister’s emphasis on listening to the people’s concerns reflects a participatory approach to governance, where the administration is not only taking action but also responsive to the voices of the public.
