What is DigiYatra?

DigiYatra is an innovative initiative by the Indian government aimed at modernizing the air travel process by making it more efficient and secure. This digital platform eliminates the need for physical travel documents such as boarding passes and identification cards. Instead, passengers can now use their facial recognition data for check-ins, security checks, and boarding, ensuring a quicker and smoother travel experience.

How to Use DigiYatra at Bhubaneswar Airport

To utilize the DigiYatra facility, passengers need to download the DigiYatra app and complete a simple registration process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to getting started:

  1. Download the App: Passengers can find the DigiYatra app on both Android and iOS platforms.
  2. Register: Create an account using your personal details and upload a government-issued photo ID, such as Aadhaar or passport.
  3. Upload Travel Information: Link your upcoming flight details to the app, which will generate a unique DigiYatra ID.
  4. Facial Biometrics: Upload your facial biometric data, which will be used at the airport for identity verification.
  5. Contactless Check-In: Upon arrival at the airport, head to the designated DigiYatra gates. Your face will be scanned and verified with the data uploaded in the app. This eliminates the need to present a physical boarding pass or ID.
  6. Security and Boarding: After check-in, proceed to the security check and boarding gates where the same facial recognition system will be used, making the entire process contactless and quick.

A Major Step Forward for BPIA

The DigiYatra system at BPIA Bhubaneswar is part of a nationwide initiative, with the facility being simultaneously launched at eight other airports across India, including Visakhapatnam, Patna, Raipur, Goa (Dabolim), Indore, Ranchi, Coimbatore, and Bagdogra. The initiative is expected to revolutionize air travel in the country by reducing waiting times and making the process more efficient.
