Mahanga Double Murder Case: 9 Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

Salepur: In a significant verdict, nine individuals have been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the much-discussed Mahanga double murder case. The judgment was delivered by the Salepur SDJM court. The court, however, acquitted Aravind Khuntia, who had been arrested in the same case. The brutal incident occurred on January 2, 2021, and was allegedly driven by political rivalry. BJP leader Kulmani Baral and his associate were murdered by individuals believed to be political opponents. The police chargesheet also included the name of the then MLA and minister Pratap Jena.
