Empowering 'Lakhpati Didis'

The term 'Lakhpati Didis' refers to women from SHGs whose annual income exceeds Rs 1 lakh. This achievement is a milestone for many rural women, who have been working tirelessly to improve their financial standing. These SHGs have been involved in various sectors, including livestock management, agriculture, and government initiatives such as the 'Krishi Sakhi' program and the 'NAMO Drone Didi' scheme.

During his interaction, PM Modi recognized the efforts of these women and encouraged them to keep striving for success. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the women of India have always made an unparalleled contribution to the development of society and the nation. "Today, as our country is working hard to become developed, once again our women power is coming forward to lead the way."

Financial Assistance to Boost SHGs

PM Modi's announcement of a revolving fund of Rs 2,500 crore and the disbursement of Rs 5,000 crore in bank loans represents a significant financial boost for SHGs in Maharashtra. These funds will help SHG members expand their businesses, invest in new opportunities, and support their families.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government's goal is to create more 'Lakhpati Didis' across the country. "When I met you during the Lok Sabha elections, I made a commitment—to empower 3 crore 'Lakshmi Didis.' These are women involved in Self-Help Groups, with each earning an annual income exceeding one lakh rupees. In the last 10 years, one crore Lakhpati Didis were made, and in just two months, 11 lakh more Lakhpati Didis were added to this number," PM Modi stated.

This ambitious target reflects the government's ongoing efforts to empower women through financial inclusion and skill development. By providing access to credit and support, the initiative aims to uplift rural women, enabling them to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
