Odisha Government Introduces "Subhadra" Scheme Guidelines: Empowering Women Aged 21 to 60

The Odisha government has taken a significant step towards empowering women by introducing the much-anticipated "Subhadra" scheme guidelines. This initiative, rolled out by the Department of Women and Child Development, aims to provide support and upliftment to women across the state. The guidelines, which were recently released, clearly outline who is eligible and how the program will function. 

 

Eligibility Criteria for Subhadra Scheme 

Under the new Subhadra scheme, women aged between 21 and 60 years are eligible to apply. The age of the applicants will be verified through their Aadhaar cards, with the date of birth on the card being considered for eligibility. This ensures that the process remains transparent and straightforward, allowing women from different backgrounds to access the benefits of the scheme. 

The inclusion of women within this wide age range is aimed at addressing the diverse needs of both young women and those who are more experienced. By offering support to women aged 21 to 60, the scheme covers a critical period in women's lives, helping them gain access to opportunities and resources that may have been previously out of reach. 

State Government's Commitment to Women Empowerment 

The Odisha state government has shown a strong commitment to women's empowerment with the launch of the Subhadra scheme. Formation of Subhadra Scheme Committee 

In a move to ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, the Odisha government has also formed a dedicated Subhadra Scheme Committee. This committee will oversee the entire operation and execution of the scheme, making sure that it runs efficiently and effectively. 

The Chief Secretary of the state has been appointed as the Chairperson of the committee, ensuring that the highest level of governance is involved in the decision-making process. The Development Commissioner will serve as the Vice Chairperson, providing valuable support and guidance to the committee. In total, there will be 12 members in the committee, along with an additional member who will serve as a deputy. 

A New Dawn for Women in Odisha
