Celebrating Swayat Shasan Divas 2024 in Daspalla: A Day of Civic Pride and Unity

Daspalla – (Reported by Subash Chandra Barik): On the occasion of Swayat Shasan Divas 2024, celebrations were held nationwide to honour and promote the concept of local self-governance. In the small yet vibrant town of Daspalla, this significant day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Bijnapit Panchayat Office premises, bringing the community together in a spirit of civic pride. 

The day began with the Panchayat council organizing an early morning event in all 16 wards of the region, where the iconic 'Ram Dhun' melody was broadcasted through loudspeakers. This was a symbolic way to unite the community and pay tribute to the ideals of self-governance. 

A Day of Tributes and Community Welfare 

Panchayat President Poonam Priyadarshini led the day's activities, accompanied by the dedicated council staff. The celebrations began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the statues of revered local leaders, a gesture of respect to the pioneers of self-governance in the region. 

Following this, a series of welfare activities took place, focusing on the wellbeing of the local population. The Panchayat members visited the Daspalla Government Hospital, where they distributed fruits to the patients, spreading cheer and positivity. Similarly, fruits were also distributed to the residents of the local old age home, ensuring that the elderly were not left out of the celebrations. 

A Gathering of Dignitaries 

The highlight of the day was the grand assembly held at the Panchayat office, presided over by President Priyadarshini. The chief guest for the event was Daspalla MLA, Shri Ramesh Chandra Behera, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of local self-governance in empowering communities. 

Other notable guests included the Vice President of the Panchayat, Kishore Chandra Das, the local Tehsildar, Shri Smrutiranjan Satapathy, Municipal Engineer Ashok Dalabehera, and Member of Parliament representative, Basanta Mahanti. These dignitaries joined together in expressing their hopes for the continued progress of Daspalla NAC (Notified Area Council) and called for the cooperation of all citizens in making their community stronger and more self-reliant. 

During the event, Executive Officer Chandrashekhar Barik delivered a welcome speech and introduced the guests. His address focused on the importance of collaboration between the local government and citizens for the development of the area. Councillor Shukadev Mishra offered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the day a success. 

A Day of Culture and Unity 

The celebrations didn't stop there. The event also featured a cultural program, where local artists showcased their talents through traditional dances and music. This cultural presentation not only entertained the attendees but also reminded everyone of the rich heritage and unity of the Daspalla community. 

The event saw the participation of Panchayat staff, councillors, local journalists, and the general public, all of whom played their part in making the day a memorable one. Swayat Shasan Divas in Daspalla was a reminder of the power of local self-governance, the importance of community spirit, and the shared goal of building a better future for everyone.
