Bhubaneswar: In a heartening initiative aimed at creating a drug-free environment in Odisha, students from Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kangurukonda, Kalimela, Malkangiri, have joined forces to spread awareness through music. The campaign, which emphasizes the importance of a drug-free society, has gained momentum thanks to the efforts of young students and their mentors.

The core of this initiative is a song titled "Drug-Free Odisha," composed by Dr. Sanatan Panda, the Additional Director of OSEPPA. This song, written in the 12th Panikia Chhanda, is not just a melody but a powerful tool for social change. It carries a significant message aimed at educating and inspiring the community about the harmful effects of drugs and the need for a healthier, drug-free lifestyle.

Students Sanjana Bishwas, Esmita Bairagi, Rajanandini Senapati, and Subhasmita Harichandan from Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya have been actively involved in this campaign. They, along with their peers Prithi Sulagna and Shruti Sulagna, are using their voices to spread the message of the song. The young singers have performed this song at various events and gatherings, aiming to raise awareness and encourage people to join the cause.

Prithi Sulagna and Shruti Sulagna, who are instrumental in the campaign, have not only sung the song but also organized rallies and awareness programs in their local areas. Their dedication is evident as they continue to work tirelessly towards making Odisha drug-free. The duo has previously conducted several social awareness programs, and this new initiative aligns perfectly with their ongoing efforts to promote a healthier lifestyle among youth.

The music direction of the song is provided by Kuresh Chandra Sahu, a respected music teacher and the father of Prithi and Shruti. His involvement in this project has added a personal touch, reflecting his commitment to both music and social welfare. His daughter, Prithi, who is in the 4th grade at Radha Mohan JiU Nodal High School, and her sister Shruti, an 8th grader at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, have shown remarkable enthusiasm and leadership in this campaign.

The song has been well-received in various schools across Odisha, where students, teachers, and local residents have participated in the campaign. The message of the song has resonated with many, leading to increased involvement from schools and communities. The campaign's goal is to unite people in the fight against drug abuse and to foster a sense of collective responsibility towards maintaining a drug-free environment.

As part of their efforts, the students are also urging the Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, to support their cause. They have made a heartfelt appeal to him to help make Odisha drug-free, emphasizing that if people can achieve great things, then creating a drug-free society should be possible too.

The campaign has received support from various educational institutions, including Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kangurukonda, Kalimela, Malkangiri, Radha Mohan JiU Nodal High School, Dashapalla, Nayagarh, and several other schools across the state. These schools have played a crucial role in spreading the message and supporting the initiative.

In conclusion, the "Drug-Free Odisha" campaign is a shining example of how young people can lead important social change. Through their music and dedication, these students are making a significant impact on their communities, setting a positive example for others to follow. Their efforts highlight the power of youth in addressing critical issues and working towards a better future for all.
