Odisha CM Announces Two-Day State-Wide Holiday for Rath Yatra

Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared a two-day state-wide holiday on the occasion of the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The announcement comes as preparations for the grand festival, scheduled for 7th July, reach their final stages.

A CM-level review meeting was held today, and the concerned departments and authorities informed us about their preparations. It was a good meeting,” said the Chief Minister.


The Rath Yatra, one of the most significant festivals in Odisha, involves the ceremonial pulling of the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra through the streets of Puri.
