Indian Coast Guard Officers Participate in International Maritime Exercise in Sri Lanka

Two women officers of the Indian Coast Guard are making India proud by participating in an important international exercise in Sri Lanka. Commandant Preeti Poswal and Commandant Asha Dahiya are taking part in the Maritime Boarding Exercise, which includes a simulation of a Radiological and Nuclear incident. This exercise is being conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, from 8th to 19th July.

The Maritime Boarding Exercise is a significant event that brings together maritime forces from different countries to practice and improve their skills in handling emergencies at sea. This year, the focus is on how to respond to radiological and nuclear incidents, which are dangerous situations that require special training and coordination.

Commandant Preeti Poswal and Commandant Asha Dahiya have been selected to represent India in this important exercise. Their participation highlights the growing role of women in the Indian Coast Guard and their contributions to national and international security.

During the exercise, the officers will participate in various drills and scenarios designed to test their readiness and response to radiological and nuclear threats. These scenarios help the officers learn how to protect people and the environment from harmful radiation and nuclear materials.

The UNODC, which is organizing the exercise, works to fight drug trafficking and crime worldwide. By conducting such exercises, the UNODC aims to strengthen international cooperation and ensure that countries are better prepared to handle maritime security challenges.

The Indian Coast Guard is proud of Commandant Poswal and Commandant Dahiya for their dedication and commitment. Their participation in this exercise not only enhances their skills but also strengthens India's maritime security capabilities.

This event is a great example of international cooperation and the importance of being prepared for all kinds of emergencies. It shows how countries can come together to learn from each other and work towards a safer world.

As the exercise continues until 19th July, Commandant Poswal and Commandant Dahiya will bring their knowledge and experience back to India, helping to improve the Indian Coast Guard's ability to handle complex maritime incidents.

The participation of these two officers is a testament to the Indian Coast Guard's commitment to excellence and the important role of women in ensuring the safety and security of our seas.
