CM Mohan Majhi Receives Demand Letter from Brutanga Displaced Committee

Dashapalla: (Reported by- Ratnakar Hota) In the Nayagarh district of Odisha, there is a plan to build a dam over the Brutanga River. This project aims to help farmers by providing better irrigation, which means water for their fields. However, there is a problem. The area where the dam will be built is home to many people, including SC and ST communities. These people are worried because their homes will be submerged under water due to the dam.

To talk about their worries, a group of villagers from Takara Gram Panchayat in Dashapalla Block decided to meet the Chief Minister, Mohan Majhi. They wanted to tell him about their problems and ask for help. This group was led by Raghava Mallik, a leader from the BJP party. Other important members of the group included Saty Narayan Sahu, the president of the Brutanga Displaced Committee, and people like Govinda Nayak, Dilip Sahu, Charan Majhi, and Prafulla Kumar Nayak, among others.

When they met with the Chief Minister, they handed him a demand letter. This letter explained their concerns and what they hoped the government could do to help them. The Chief Minister listened carefully to what they had to say. He promised to form a high-level committee with officials from different government departments. This committee will discuss the best ways to support the families who will lose their homes because of the dam.

Chief Minister Majhi assured the villagers that the government will come up with a complete rehabilitation package. This package will include new homes and other kinds of support to help the displaced families start a new life. He also said that the construction of the Brutanga River dam will only begin after these plans are in place and the affected families are taken care of.

The villagers felt hopeful after meeting the Chief Minister. They believed that the government would take the right steps to ensure their well-being. The Chief Minister’s promise gave them some comfort, knowing that their voices were heard and that their concerns were being taken seriously.

This situation is a reminder of how important it is to balance development with the needs of the people. While the dam will help many farmers, it is also crucial to make sure that the families who are displaced are given proper support and a chance to rebuild their lives.
