New Delhi, 28 July 2024 — Following a key meeting took place during their visit to Delhi for the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hosted a significant gathering with Odisha cadre officers and Odia officers serving in various departments of the Central Government. The meeting, held at Odisha Bhavan in New Delhi, aimed to seek their cooperation and suggestions for the rapid development of Odisha.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo and Prabhati Parida also attended the meeting, along with Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and several other high-ranking officials. The officers shared their insights and proposed strategies to help propel Odisha towards a more prosperous future.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Central and State Governments. He emphasized that such cooperation is essential to achieve the vision of a developed Odisha. The Chief Minister acknowledged the special focus given to Odisha under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Purvodaya development scheme, which has opened up vast opportunities for the state.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi outlined several key areas where Odisha needs support from the Central Government. These include developing port-based infrastructure, setting up industrial corridors and parks, improving railway and airport facilities, and creating disaster-resilient infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of supporting green energy projects like hydro storage plants and solar initiatives, as well as ensuring financial inclusion by establishing more bank branches and ATMs in remote areas.
Further, the Chief Minister sought assistance in expanding the rail network, attracting foreign investments, and developing modern industries like semiconductors. He also highlighted the need for enhanced protection and promotion of Odisha’s forest resources.
In his address, Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence that with the active involvement and support of Odisha cadre officers in the Central Government, these goals can be achieved. He noted that the newly formed Odisha Government had presented its first budget on July 25, which incorporated valuable feedback from economic experts, intellectuals, and the general public. This inclusive approach, he said, ensures that the budget truly reflects the aspirations of the people.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government’s efforts alone would not suffice to achieve the desired progress. He called for the cooperation of all sections of society, emphasizing that every individual's contribution is vital for the state’s development.
