Celebrating Education and Nature: "A Tree for Mother" Program Held in Odagaon

Odagaon, 27th July: In a heartfelt celebration blending education and environmental consciousness, the "A Tree for Mother" program was recently held at Uddhav Government Upper Primary School in Odagaon block. This event was part of the broader Education Week being observed in schools across Odisha, organized under the guidance of the Department of School and Mass Education and the Odisha School Education Program Authority. The initiative aims to foster holistic development among students through a series of thematic days, each dedicated to a different aspect of learning and personal growth. 

Starting from the 22nd of July, Education Week includes activities centered around Teaching Aids Day, Basic Language and Numeracy Day, Sports Day, Cultural Day, Skills and Digital Promotion Day, Eco-Club and Nutrition Day, and Group Engagement Day. On the sixth day of this celebration, the unique program "A Tree for Mother" was organized, focusing on the importance of nature and the environment.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and their mothers, who together engaged in a tree-planting drive within the school premises. This initiative not only highlighted the significance of environmental conservation but also strengthened the bond between students and their mothers, making it a memorable and meaningful activity. 

The program was graced by several dignitaries, including the local Sarpanch, Sasmita Patra, and Yashobanta Pattnaik, the coordinator of the Mashabari Regional Resource Center. Also in attendance were Pramodini Sahu, the president of the Mothers’ Committee, Purnachandra Das, the president of the School Management Committee, Smitashree Panigrahi, a handicrafts trainer, and Ekalavya Das, an art teacher. Their presence and participation in the tree planting not only encouraged the students but also underscored the community's commitment to nurturing both education and the environment.

Among the attendees were mothers like Milibala Sahu, Shailabala Raj, Sunita Sahu, Rashmita Sethy, Sujata Sahu, Lakshmipriya Jena, and Jhilibaba Nahak, alongside fathers such as Vidayadhar Behera, Bhagaban Dalabehera, Lakshman Dalabehera, Akshaya Kumar Das, Prasanna Kumar Nayak, Prakash Chandra Sahu, and Gourahari Sahu. Student representatives Ashok Kumar Das and Annapurna Jena also took part in the activities, contributing to the day's success.

The program was efficiently conducted by Headmistress Usharani Das and Teacher Sasmita Kumari Panda, who ensured that all activities ran smoothly and that everyone participated enthusiastically.
