BJP Promises All-Round Development for Odisha, Says JP Nadda

Bhubaneswar/Puri: BJP national president JP Nadda recently praised the people of Odisha for their support in electing the state’s first BJP government and helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi secure a third consecutive term.

At the party’s state executive committee meeting in Puri, Nadda expressed his gratitude and promised that the BJP will work hard for the development and welfare of Odisha. “We will do everything in our power to serve the people and ensure their well-being,” he stated.

Nadda highlighted the BJP's significant achievement in the state, noting that the party won 78 seats and received 40.8% of the votes. The party also boasts 18 tribal MLAs and the highest number of Scheduled Caste MLAs. He assured that the BJP will work to uplift these communities and integrate them into mainstream society.

The BJP president pointed out that the new government in Odisha has already begun fulfilling its election promises. He mentioned the reopening of the Ratna Bhandar after 40 years and efforts to ensure the proper evaluation of Lord Jagannath’s prasad. “The government will fulfill all the promises made to the people,” Nadda added.

Nadda also emphasized that the BJP is the only truly national party in India, governing over 58% of the country’s area and having the support of more than 57% of the population.

Criticizing the Congress party, Nadda described it as a “parasitic entity” that relies on others to progress. He ridiculed their celebrations of improved performance in recent elections, comparing it to a student celebrating after barely passing. Nadda asserted that even if all the parties in the INDI alliance combined their seats, they still wouldn’t match the BJP’s numbers. He claimed that the Congress weakens its allies, stating, “Today the party runs on crutches.”

Nadda further accused the INDI alliance of falsely portraying themselves as protectors of the Constitution, Dalits, tribals, democracy, and OBCs. He referred to the Emergency in 1975, during which many were imprisoned, including Biju Patnaik and other prominent leaders. Nadda vowed to expose what he called the “hollow promises” of the alliance.

He also mentioned that the Congress had toppled elected governments 90 times, contrasting it with the Narendra Modi government, which has not dismissed any state governments in the last 10 years.

State BJP president Manmohan Samal said that the meeting aimed to create a roadmap for implementing the party’s election promises. The focus would be on addressing the problems faced by the common people of Odisha. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, ministers, party MLAs, MPs, and other key party members.
